What is a frappe?
While the frappe known in the United States refers to a type of blended iced coffee drink you can get at coffee shops, the original word frappe referred to the Greek frappe drink. The Greek Frappé is a foam-covered iced coffee drink made of instant coffee, sugar, ice cubes and water. The frappé was named after the French word “frapper” meaning “to hit” just as ice does when mixed with a drink and shaken.
Do you make frappe with coffee?
The original Greek Frappe is made with coffee and many coffee shops use coffee coffee in their recipes as well. Some coffee shops will only make cream-based frappes instead of a coffee-based frappe if you ask for it.This frappe recipe includes coffee in it.
