How to Make Greek Instant Freddo Cappuccino
Freddo Cappuccino is a Greek iced coffee that is similar to another iced coffee recipe from Greece - the Frappe.
Freddo Cappuccino vs. Frappe
While Frappe uses instant coffee granules, Freddo Cappuccino is usually made with a shot (or two) of Espresso.
Freddo Cappuccino is made by mixing ice, a shot brewed Espresso and sugar in a shaker until the mixture becomes light and frothy. The Freddo mix is then added to a clear glass and topped with frothy milk. It is then served iced and with an optional straw. You can also use instant Espresso or instant coffee (like we will be doing) for this recipe.
The Greek Frappe, on the other hand is made by adding a bit of water, one or two teaspoons of instant coffee, and sugar together to create a foam by shaking everything in a cocktail shaker, or by blending it with a hand mixer. This mixture is then added to cold water/milk with ice cubes in a glass and served with a straw.
How to Order your Freddo Cappuccino
In Greece, the Freddo Cappuccino (and also the Frappe) is served with three degrees of sweetness. The first called glykós (sweet) using four teaspoons of sugar. Next is métrios (medium) with two teaspoons of sugar. Last is skétos (unsweetened) with no sugar in the beverage.
