10 Signs That You Need Your Morning Coffee
If you are struggling with opening your eyes in the morning, getting to work, or anything sleep related, you might desperately need coffee.
Waking up in the morning, especially on a work or school day, just might be the hardest part of the day. Seriously… making a conscious decision to not hit snooze for the 10th time takes conviction, and that is commendable.
10 signs that you need your morning coffee
1. You can't seem to get out of bed
This seems like a pretty universal thing, but there are some days when just moving your body out of its cozy position seems like a battle between life and death. Maybe its snowing or raining outside, maybe you were having the best dream ever and simply don’t want to wake up, or maybe you’re just tired and want to go back to bed. Either way, this is a tell-tale sign that you need your morning coffee to get you excited to be out of bed!
2. You’re messing up your morning routine
This one is serious because a messed-up morning routine can cause trouble for the whole day. Some examples of this includes putting your shirt on backwards, forgetting pants, pouring milk before cereal, forgetting to brush your teeth, etc. Messing up just one of these essentials can harm your confidence and productivity for the day, and if you forget an article of clothing, it can even get you fired. It’s best to prevent this heavy brain fog at all costs, therefore, to save yourself from disaster, brew up a cup of coffee and get ready to attack the morning routine and the beautiful day ahead!
3. Feeling sluggish
Sometimes, even if we get the most sleep of our lives, we can’t help but to feel lethargic and sluggish throughout the day. Getting out of bed takes a longer time, walking to the bathroom feels like trekking across the Sahara Desert, and chewing your breakfast might exhaust your jaw to the point of swallowing your toast whole. These are classic symptoms of sluggishness, which can easily be solved by caffeine. If your head is working at the speed of a sloth, properly providing caffeine nutrients is key to make sure it is running at normal speed, and not 10 steps behind.
4. Pounding headaches
Ok, you wake up, the sun is shining, birds and chirping, all is seemingly well and then out of nowhere, a headache comes in to ruin all of your hopes and dreams for the day. Headaches can be a sign of dehydration, hunger, stress, and several other things. One terrible thing about headaches is that they make doing anything a challenge, so it becomes hard to do what needs to be done to get rid of a headache because you just want to lie in a dark room! An easy way to get rid of the pesky headache and get on with the day is to drink coffee! It works wonders on headaches and will give you the extra boost of energy to be productive and eliminate the causes of your headache once and for all.
5. Monday
This one is pretty self-explanatory… Monday’s suck. That’s just the way it is. The weekend is over, work is starting, the following weekend is seemingly ages away, and you have to go back to waking up early to make it to class or work on time. There is truly no cure to the Monday blues than a satisfying cup of coffee. Coffee tastes great and can be a way to treat yourself with something nice at the beginning of a hard day to come or hard week to come. Coffee will give you a warm morning hug and say, “you can do this!” Wow, thanks coffee!
6. Sleep deprivation
Coffee obviously contains caffeine which stimulates the brain and gets rid of feelings of tiredness. Naturally, if you failed to get your entire 8 hours of sleep and are seriously deprived of energy and will-power, start the day off with some coffee and it will be as though you got all the sleep you needed and more! Well… at least until it wears off. There’s an easy solution to that too—coffee!
7. You overslept
This might be a little counterintuitive, because when most people oversleep, they are in a rush to get to where they need to go and often forget about coffee or breakfast so as to be on time. This is not a great idea because there is a reason you overslept, be it you are exhausted or were so busy the night prior that you forgot to set an alarm. These are the exact reasons why drinking coffee in the morning of oversleeping is absolutely necessary! Also, waking up later than normal can mess up one’s circadian rhythms and make the whole day feel like it is happening too early or too late. How do you get your head back in the game? Coffee, coffee, coffee! With instant coffee, you can make it fast right before you rush out of home!
8. Gnarly hangover
Hangovers are possibly the most uncomfortable things, and thankfully they seldom last more than a morning or a day. Either way, sometimes the Advil and leftover pizza slice doesn’t do the trick and extreme measures need to be taken. Coffee can and really does help! It can wake up your mind and body and distract it from the fatigue and unfortunate symptoms of a hangover. While it will not cure your hangover completely, it can make your body forget about it for a few hours, and maybe for long enough for the darn thing go away.
9. Deadline/hectic day at work
If you have a seriously important day ahead of you with major stressors on the horizon, drinking coffee in the morning is the perfect way to prepare for something like that. It will ensure that your mind is running and pique performance and keep you vigilant and diligent throughout the day.
10. You’re alive
Seriously… why do we even need reasons or excuses to drink coffee? It is delicious, it gives us energy, it can be drank in any number of ways and combinations, and it never fails to set us up for success. Coffee should be drunk every morning possible because a day without coffee is a sad day indeed.
